As the rainy season ends and the cool, clear weather of winter appears, conditions in Thailand have been improving as Covid-19 infections, hospitalisations and deaths continue to decline. As a result, the Government has lifted restrictions and foreign visitors are returning.

As the newly crowned Miss Universe Thailand, Anchilee, or Anne, Scott-Kemmis, prepared for the world pageant in Eilat, Israel in mid-December, Elite+ was very fortunate to be one of the first magazines to interview this beautiful and intelligent winner who you will meet in this issue’s cover story. We are also honoured to introduce you to HE Nashio Kazuya, ambassador of Japan to Thailand, as Japan and Thailand prepare to celebrate the 135th anniversary of official diplomatic relations next year while ties between the two countries can actually be traced back more than 600 years.

In between these articles, we provide a report on the very successful Indonesia International Book Fair (IIBF) 2021, which following the development of the very innovative ASEAN International Rights Fair (virf. io) through the collaboration of Elite Creative Co, Ltd and Ayodhya ROP, interested parties around the globe could join and participate, network and conduct business virtually the same as if they were there.

As temperatures begin to drop, we take you to the north first to visit Café in the Doi set on a hillside in the Mae Kam Pong valley, an hour southeast of Chiang Mai City, and then Khun Pongpol Adireksarn takes us spelunking in Tham Lod Cave, actually a labyrinth comprising three main chambers found in Mae Hong Son province close to the Thai-Myanmar border.

In this issue, we also feature pieces on Thai National Artist in Literature Anek Nawikkamun, who has dedicated his life to preserving history as curator of Ban Piphittaphan – House of Museums in addition to his historical non-fiction, and Madame Louise Akerblom, wife of the ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to Thailand, an economist who has devoted much of her time to empowering women.
