Message of HE Millicent Cruz Paredes, Ambassador of the Philippines, on the the 126th Anniversary of Philippine Independence and 75th Anniversary of Philippines-Thailand Diplomatic Relations
12 June 2024
I am pleased to convey the warmest greetings of the Philippine government and Filipino people to all our friends and partners in the Royal Thai government and Kingdom of Thailand as we celebrate the 126th anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence and Nationhood and 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Thailand.
I also greet the Filipino community across the Kingdom on these joyous occasions and thank them for their continued support and contribution to the enduring friendship between the Filipino and Thai peoples.
Our celebration of Philippine independence is marked back-to-back with the 75th anniversary of Philippines-Thailand diplomatic relations. On 14 June 1949 in Washington DC, the Treaty of Friendship between the Philippines and Thailand was signed to formalize relations between our two nations following the close of the Second World War.
Both countries have built a strong partnership defined at its very core by the relationship between the Filipino and Thai peoples, whether in government, business and industry, education or on the personal level. We thank and recognize all the women and men who have helped make 75 years of friendship between the Philippines and Thailand most meaningful.
Together, let us move forward to a new era of closer friendship and common prosperity.
Thank you. Khop khun kha. Maraming salamat po.
