Message from the Ambassador of Ireland

A Chairde, Dear Friends, Sawadee krub,

It is a great pleasure for me to convey warmest good wishes to all Irish people and all friends of Ireland from Thailand and from all over the world on the occasion of Ireland’s National Day, St Patrick’s Day.

This year is a very special one as we mark 50 years since Ireland and Thailand established diplomatic relations in 1975. We have seen a half century of growing friendship between our countries, with trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges developing strongly. We look forward with ambition and excitement to the next 50 years, and beyond.

The world today is a place of uncertainty and tension. It is more important than ever that like-minded countries who share a commitment to multilateralism, peace, human rights and free trade speak up and stand up for these principles. I believe that Ireland and the European Union, and Thailand and ASEAN, can play an important role in the world now and into the future, and I look forward to continuing to work with partners in Thailand and the region to achieve our shared goals.

Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona daoibh go léir!

Happy St Patrick’s Day!

Pat Bourne

Ambassador of Ireland to the Kingdom of Thailand
