Poland Celebrates Independence Day on 11 November to Commemorate
Its Restoration of Sovereignty in 1918
The long history of Polish democracy started with the adoption of the first modern constitution in Europe 233 years ago. This milestone has helped to form the independent spirit of Poles. From this point, our nation has been proudly developing spheres of liberty, mutual respect and global friendship between states.
We Poles cherish the notion of friendship between our peoples and the international community which has grown to be very well established. With friendship based on shared values and solidarity, the Republic of Poland has become a pivotal member of NATO and the European Union, contributing to the development of both organizations.
As a nation we are fully dedicated to defending democracy, the rule of law and human rights as we believe all people matter.
Our diplomatic bilateral relations with Thailand were established on 14 November 1972. Since then, Poland and Thailand have enjoyed long and amicable political cooperation.
Thailand is Poland’s second major trading partner in ASEAN. Our bilateral trade has registered double digit percentage growth annually. Thanks to our location and EU membership, Poland is one of the most attractive locations for foreign investment.
On the cultural level, Polish heritage plays a pivotal role, especially in the domain of high-brow culture. The fact is perfectly epitomized by the inspirational activities of the Bangkok Chopin Society. During the 7th session of the signatory states of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, Poland was elected to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Committee. Intangible heritage is passed down from generation to generation by the community, giving it a sense of identity and continuity. It also contributes to greater respect for cultural diversity and is a source of inspiration for human creativity. These features have played a pivotal role in constituting Polish independence.
