Message on the
33rd Anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence
Dear Friends of Ukraine in Thailand, Sawasdee Krub!
Today we mark the 33rd anniversary of the Ukraine’s Independence. We observe the national holiday under the conditions of the ongoing full-scale Russian invasion, brutal and unprovoked, started by the internationally recognized aggressor-state in February 2022.
Throughout the whole history of Ukraine, our country has fought for its independence and freedom. And now, as the Ukrainian people continue fighting for the third consecutive year, we all fully realize that this struggle is not only for independence and freedom but also for our existence.
And as history has proved, since Ukrainians have always been standing for truth, with the majority of the countries of the world currently supporting us in our struggle for peace, it will be Ukraine who will win.
We are grateful to the international community, including the Kingdom of Thailand, for consolidated support of Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
It is also remarkable that the Kingdom of Thailand was the first country in Southeast Asia to recognize Ukraine as an independent state on 26 December 1991.
The First Global Peace Summit, which took place in June 2024 in Switzerland, became a great success, demonstrating the unity of the international community with participation of 100 delegations from all continents. It sent a clear signal to Russia that the global world does not support its war of aggression.
Thailand’s participation in the Summit is regarded as a valued contribution to establishing a just and lasting peace for Ukraine.
Ukraine is committed to continue mutually beneficial cooperation with the Kingdom of Thailand in the political, economic, science and technology, cultural and other spheres. Ukraine looks forward to strengthening and developing the political dialogue with the Royal Thai Government, including high level contacts, with particular focus on furthering bilateral trade and investment.
I also would like to express our sincere gratitude for Thailand’s humanitarian assistance provided to the Ukrainian people during this time of war.
We also appreciate Thailand’s decision to elevate the level of our political consultations to the level of Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs and look forward to holding this very important event soon.
I would like to also congratulate the Ukrainian community in Thailand on our Independence Day Anniversary and assure all my fellowmen that the Embassy will continue to support all Ukrainians who stay in this country.
At the same time, taking into account current ongoing military aggression against our country, I would like to call upon you to unite in our efforts to disseminate the truth about the Russian war against Ukraine, engage in humanitarian assistance and donations, and raise awareness about Ukrainian cultural identity, history and traditions among the Thai people.
Happy Independence Day of Ukraine!
Glory to Ukraine!
Glory to Heroes!
