This fourth extract from elemente, a collection of poems and photographs along elementary themes, explores wind, sky and word – the need for speech in human connectivity, even when superfluous. Text preceded image, sometimes by decades, with the latter deriving from more recent explorations in international journalism. Nevertheless the images, from four continents, lend new interpretations to verses abbreviated here from much longer poems. The pairings aim for rough symbiosis, each imbuing the other with new layers as the words or pictures explore their own airs.
