Suphajee Suthumpun: Taking Dusit International to New Heights and Vistas

While the Government announced that the rainy season had officially commenced on 21 May, most of us already realised this as all parts of Bangkok and the country were being drenched in very refreshing showers after the blistering heat of Thai summer. Now, the greenery has quickly been reinvigorated and returned to its lush, shimmering, verdant life. Many of our fruit are now ripe and filling the markets. For me, it’s a favourite time of year. A renewal of life.

Bearing this in mind, our cover story features an interview with Suphajee Suthumpun, Dusit International CEO, as she and her group prepare for the relaunch of their flagship hotel, Dusit Thani Bangkok as part of the Dusit Central Park project. We then introduce you to the ROK’s new ambassador to Thailand, HE Park Yongmin, as the countries mark over 60 years of diplomatic relations. We are also very honoured to have President Emmanuel Macron sharing his thoughts on Green Wisdom, and towards the end of this issue, you have the chance to meet Madame Tala Dionisi, spouse of Italy’s ambassador to Thailand and new SHOM president and chairwoman of the YWCA Diplomatic Bazaar.

In between, we have a story about APX Logistics Solutions and how it is revolutionizing land transport in the region and a review of a new, exceptionally delicious Indian restaurant recently opened in the Amari Bangkok, Nila, featuring Goan Portuguese cuisine and ambience. Then, we take you to Chennai India and its colourful kaleidoscope of architecture and culture. This visual journey then continues with an introduction of the 4th Mango Art Festival and then Bird Watching in Cornwall, UK with Pongpol Adireksarn.

We then end with another short story by national artist Seksan Prasertkul, “Yellow Barracudas”, in which describes his search for a sense of peace through fishing before Ezra Kyrill Erker ends with his impressions of Bangkok after the sun sets.
