Piya Sosothikul : Successful Practitioner and Scholar when it comes to Business

It seems I might have spoken too soon in my Executive Editor’s Note last issue as we appeared to be coming out of the woods from the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, a third wave has descended upon us, and we must once more act vigilantly to protect ourselves and the ones we love. Still, as vaccines will start to become more available and restrictions seem to be once more reducing the number of daily reported infections, hopefully we will again emerge from this dark period in our lives.

To help, we have a series of articles that reflect this optimism. Our cover story, an interview with Piya Sosothikul, an advisor to Bangkok Bank and board member of his family’s, now third generation, business, Seacon Group, shares his experience and knowledge on how to develop the foundation for a successful family business, after which we share a story on the Golden Jubilee celebration in Bangkok of Bangladesh Independence and 101st anniversary of the birth of their founding father, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, as well as the close relations between Bangladesh and Thailand. Next, we are very fortunate to have an interview with the ambassador of Malaysia, HE Dato’ Jojie Samuel, by Kathleen Pokrud, in which he discusses the very long and valued relationship between his country and Thailand as well as what he envisions for post Covid-19. Then, towards the end of the magazine we introduce you to Mrs Christina (Chrissy) Macpherson, spouse to New Zealand ambassador to Thailand, HE Tahamoana (Taha) Macpherson, before she and her husband complete their posting here.

Next, turning to health, Dr Soipetch Viravaidya, MD, a specialist in anti-aging and regenerative medicine on the staff of BDMS Wellness Clinic, provides excellent insight and advice into how to prepare so you can enjoy your golden years.

Then, following advice on developing a marketing plan in our column Marketing Mind, we turn to lifestyle and travel, beginning with a story about the magical Manee Dheva Resort set in Chiang Rai’s serene Mae Salong Valley before looking at the luxurious urban resort, Chatrium Residence Sathorn Bangkok. After this we bring you to Scandinavian beachside dining at Lake House BKK before Pongpol Adireksarn takes us on another of his adventures to the Great Bear Rainforest in northwest Canada.

To end the magazine, Anchalee Vivathanachai has a short story for you, which provides a somewhat different view on life and the afterlife after which Ezra Kyrill Erker offers you some unique views and perspectives of The Netherlands in black & white and colour.

To conclude, let me wish you all a belated Happy Thai New Year, Songkran, and I do hope these articles will enhance your sense of optimism. Stay safe and healthy.

Warm Regards,
Arthorn Techatada
