Message from Paolo Dionisi, Ambassador of Italy on the National Day of Italy
On 2 June 1946, Italians chose to adopt to become a republic in a popular referendum. The choice came after long years of war with unspeakable suffering for the civilian population. This year we will celebrate the 78th anniversary of the Italian Republic.
On this day, we celebrate not only the birth of our Republic, but also the values it represents: liberty, justice, equality and solidarity. These are the fundamental principles that have guided Italy on its path towards progress and prosperity and continue to inspire our commitment on the international stage.
In Bangkok, we celebrate our National Day with our Thai friends, with whom we share a deep-rooted friendship developed over 156 years of diplomatic relations between our countries.
I thus would like to express my best wishes for continued and shared prosperity of Italy and Thailand. We are keen to strengthen and advance our relationship for the mutual benefit of our nations and citizens.
Paolo Dionisi
Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the Kingdom of Thailand
