Leading Women’s Summit in Bangkok
By Kathleen Pokrud
Aligning with International Women’s Day, The Australian New Zealand Welcome Group (ANZWG, formerly the Women’s Group) and the Advance Australia Council, recently hosted the Leading Women’s Summit in Bangkok, to celebrate and amplify the voices of influential women, supported by Midas PR.
This inspiring event was designed to bring together prominent women from diverse fields, including business, diplomacy, social impact and the military, to share their experiences and insights. The Summit format was dynamic, featuring 16 distinguished speakers, each leading a discussion with small groups of eight attendees in topics such as business leadership, diplomatic impact, social initiatives, and military and defense.
This year, some of the proceeds from the Summit, from sponsorship, ticket sales and donations, will be donated to the Association for the Promotion of the Status of Women APSW (The Emergency Shelter). This organisation has provided refuge, healthcare and skills training to survivors of domestic violence and hardship since 1980.
The opening address was delivered by Madame Amanda Kings, spouse of New Zealand Ambassador Jonathan Kings. A very prominent panel of speakers included Australian Ambassador HE Dr Angela Macdonald, Canadian Ambassador Ping Kitnikone and Philippines Ambassador Millicent Cruz-Paredes. Other speakers were from a diverse field of diplomacy, business, education, social advocacy, peacekeeping, technology, media and advisory.
