It is my honor to write to you on the occasion of the State of Kuwait’s celebration of the 64th anniversary of its independence and the 34th anniversary of its liberation from the Iraqi invasion. These are two significant occasions in which we proudly recall the historic achievements made possible by the determination of the Kuwaiti people and the support of friendly and brotherly nations, including the Kingdom of Thailand.
This year, we also celebrate 62 years of diplomatic relations between our two friendly countries. Bilateral relations have witnessed remarkable progress over the past year. The first round of political consultations between the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Thailand was held in Bangkok in a cordial and productive atmosphere, reflecting the strength of our historic relations. During these discussions, we agreed to enhance comprehensive strategic partnerships in key sectors, including economic and trade relations, healthcare, culture, academia, renewable energy, oil and petrochemicals.
In 2024, the trade volume between the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Thailand reached a significant level, with total trade exchanges amounting to $1.096 billion. This reflects the depth of our economic partnership and our aspirations for further growth and development.
Under its development vision, “New Kuwait”, the State of Kuwait has been working towards achieving comprehensive and sustainable progress across economic, social and developmental sectors, with the aim of transforming Kuwait into a regional and international financial and commercial hub. We invite our Thai friends to participate in the “New Kuwait” vision and to invest in promising sectors in the Kuwaiti market through the Direct Investment Promotion Authority.
The State of Kuwait takes great pride in its meaningful cooperation with the Kingdom of Thailand and looks forward to strengthening it in all priority areas of development. In this regard, we reaffirm Kuwait’s unwavering commitment to achieving growth and prosperity, not only for our two countries but also for the entire world. We firmly believe in the importance of promoting stability, peace and sustainable development for the benefit of all humanity.
The State of Kuwait firmly believes in the importance of international cooperation and the strengthening of developmental partnerships with friendly and brotherly nations. We recognize that sustainable development is a fundamental pillar for achieving stability and prosperity. In this regard, the State of Kuwait has achieved concrete goals with its international pledges based on the spirit of responsibility and solidarity to implement the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
Furthermore, since its establishment in 1961, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development has continued its efforts to support development projects in more than 100 countries worldwide by providing concessional loans, grants and technical assistance. These efforts contribute to improving infrastructure, enhancing healthcare and education sectors, and addressing environmental challenges. Kuwait’s unwavering commitment to this path reflects its firm principles of international solidarity and its leading role in promoting sustainable development worldwide.
